Bright, citrusy and full of fruity flavor, make your cocktail hour the best yet with this twist on the classic paloma! Fresh strawberries are blended with Oaktown Spice Shop’s Paloma Sugar for a sweet berry base with a hint of grapefruit flavor. Paired with a jalapeño simple syrup, it's a lightly spicy treat. Make this with non-alcoholic spirits for a delicious mocktail as well!



Ingredients

    • 2 oz strawberry puree (below)
    • 1 ½ oz tequila

    • ½ oz lime juice
    • ½ oz jalapeno simple syrup (below)
    • Pinch flake salt

    • 2 cups ice
    • ½ cup sparkling water (or to taste)

    • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
    • 1 tablespoon Oaktown Spice Shop Paloma Sugar

    • ¾ cup water
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • 3 jalapeños, sliced, stems removed

    • 1 lime, quartered
    • 1 slice jalapeño

    Directions

      1. In a blender, combine the strawberries and Oaktown Spice Shop Paloma Sugar, blend until smooth.

      1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, and jalapeño slices. Mix until the sugar has completely dissolved. Bring to a low boil, and remove from heat to cool. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

      1. Add Oaktown Spice Shop Paloma Sugar to a small plate, run the lime wedge over the edge of the cocktail glass and dip into the Oaktown Spice Shop Paloma Sugar to coat the rim. Set aside.

      1. Combine 2 oz prepared strawberry puree, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and a pinch of salt in a cocktail shaker. For a spicier cocktail, add a slice of jalapeño to the shaker. Fill with ice, and shake until cold and frothy, about 15 seconds.

      2. Strain into the rimmed cocktail glass and top with sparkling water before serving. Garnish with a slice of jalapeño.
